How we price

The three-component formula, how purity is converted, rounding, and how KBMC issues its daily price board.

Version 1.0Effective from 14 October 2026

The formula

Selling price = metal value + labour + stone value
ComponentHow it is calculatedSource
Metal valueFine-gold weight times the 9999 selling price on the board in forceKBMC board, published on Gold prices
LabourListed per design: design, making, setting, finishingPrice tag, product page
Stone valueListed per stone, matched to its grading reportGrading report, price tag

The total is rounded up to the nearest 1,000 VND and includes value added tax.

Fine-gold weight

Fine-gold weight is the pure gold contained in the piece:

Fine-gold weight = metal weight times purity
HallmarkPurity used
999.9 (24K)0.9999
750 (18K)0.750
585 (14K)0.585
416 (10K)0.416

Units: 1 chỉ = 3.75 g; 1 tael (lượng) = 10 chỉ = 37.5 g. The website and invoices show weight in chỉ with grams alongside.

Worked example

An 18K gold ring, 3.20 g of metal, one diamond listed at 20,000,000 VND, labour 2,500,000 VND. Assume the 9999 selling price is 14,380,000 VND per chỉ.

  1. Fine-gold weight: 3.20 × 0.750 = 2.400 g = 0.640 chỉ.
  2. Metal value: 0.640 × 14,380,000 = 9,203,200 VND.
  3. Add labour and stone: 9,203,200 + 2,500,000 + 20,000,000 = 31,703,200 VND.
  4. Rounded up: 31,704,000 VND.

These figures illustrate the method only and are not a quote.

How the board is issued

  • KBMC references world prices, exchange rates and domestic market prices, published side by side on the Gold prices page for comparison.
  • The KBMC board is drafted by one person and approved by another, timestamped to the second, and applies to the boutique and website at once.
  • Every transaction stores the board it used, so any past price can be traced back exactly.

What KBMC does not do

  • Merge the three components into one number.
  • Sell metal below the board to attract buyers and recover it through labour.
  • Charge hidden fees: engraving, resizing or delivery charges, if any, are stated before payment.
