Description

The gourd that keeps good fortune

The Vietnamese hang a gourd in the home to keep good fortune, and this pendant carries that gourd with the wearer. Two rounded bulbs, small above and larger below, are covered in hammer marks, each a tiny facet casting light in its own direction. Around the neck of the gourd sits a ring of small diamonds, drawn tight like the cord tied around the mouth of a gourd.

A 24K gold gourd, hand-hammered so that each hammer mark catches a patch of light, with a ring of small diamonds set around the neck of the gourd. In East Asian culture, the gourd symbolizes health and good fortune.

Hammered surface

Each blow of the hammer leaves a small flat facet on the 24K gold, so no two pendants carry exactly the same marks.

A ring of stones at the neck

Ten round diamonds of approx. 0.7 mm, approx. 0.01 ct in total, form a luminous ring around the neck of the gourd.

The 24K gold gourd blank is hand-hammered, one blow at a time. The artisan then sets ten diamonds around the neck under magnification and gives a light polish so the hammer marks shine evenly.
