Choosing jewellery as a gift: by occasion, budget and recipient

Jewellery is a gift that holds its value, but the wrong size or style ends up in a drawer. A short set of questions helps you get it right first time.

Givers usually know the occasion but not the recipient's taste. Four questions narrow the choice in minutes.

1. Do they wear jewellery every day

  • Yes: something wearable daily and compact: small earrings, a fine necklace, a bracelet.
  • Rarely: something that holds value, such as 24K gold, or something meaningful, such as a pendant matched to their element.

2. Do you know their ring size

Rings need the right size. If unsure, choose earrings, a necklace or a bracelet, or give a ring with a promise of a free fitting. The first resize within 12 months at Kim Bảo Minh Châu is free for plain bands and non-eternity stone rings.

3. What occasion

OccasionIdea

Wedding anniversaryEternity band, diamond necklace
Graduation, first jobFine necklace, office-friendly hoops
Tết, a baby's first birthday, weddings24K gold: bracelet, torque, plain ring
Elders24K gold ring, gourd pendant

4. Budget

Set the budget first, then the metal. 24K jewellery is priced close to gold and keeps its value if the recipient wants to trade it. 18K pieces with stones carry more labour and stone value, in exchange for finer design.

So the gift gets worn

  • Keep the invoice and digital warranty card; the recipient can use the warranty even though they did not buy it.
  • Pieces not engraved or resized can be exchanged within 7 days.
  • After 7 days the recipient can trade in under the Buy-back and trade-in commitment; the 24K trade-in deduction is 0%.

Ask the Kim Bảo assistant at the bottom right or book in store.
