The Elegance band in 18K white gold

White wedding bands are a favourite for couples. The two main choices are 18K white gold and platinum 950. Side by side in the case they look almost the same; the difference shows after a few years of wear.

Composition

  • 18K white gold (750): 75% gold, the rest white alloying metals such as palladium and silver. The surface is usually rhodium-plated for a bright white.
  • Platinum 950: 95% platinum, 5% alloy. Naturally white, no plating needed.

Choose by habit

  • Worn constantly, hands-on work: platinum keeps its colour and loses less metal.
  • Prefer a lighter ring, happy to re-plate: 18K white gold.
  • Two metals for a couple: fine, but a wedding band worn next to an engagement ring is best in the same metal so the two do not wear each other down.

At Kim Bảo Minh Châu

Wedding bands come in four metals: 18K white, yellow and rose gold and platinum 950. Product pages show estimated weight for each metal and the matching price. Rhodium re-plating for 18K white gold is free once every 12 months under the Lifetime warranty.
